Data Methodology

Movement of materials in the apparel supply chain were tracked using import data from the UN-Comtrade Database. Materials are processed and distributed into exports, domestic sales, further transformations, and other uses. The methodology integrates an accounting model with waste ratio data from a mapping study to estimate textile waste. Waste generation is calculated by applying specific waste parameters to the volume of processed fibers at each supply chain stage, using data from companies and project team expertise. The model estimates average annual waste, assuming no change in stock volumes.

Upcoming & Notes

The post-industrial waste volumes here are inclusing cutting waste, mill waste, deadstock, spinning waste and overproduction.
