RR uses the UN Comtrade database to understand the import and export volumes of fiber, yarn, and fabric in a given country. We combine this with secondary data on the country's textile and apparel industry structure and specificities, such as the share of the technical textile industry. Additionally, we use data from the RR platform to derive waste percentages at each production stage and estimate the volumes of textile waste available in the country, based on specific fiber compositions.
Moreover, we integrate on-the-ground insights from our work and visits to the country into our calculations. We confirm our data with additional desk research, including existing industry reports by global development organizations like GIZ and leading industry associations relevant to the country, such as BGMEA. Therefore, we combine data profiled through the RR Platform with mapped data collected through various research sources.
We are planning on launching this dashboard in Q2 2025. The dashboard will mostly include data of the previous year, in this case 2024 with some real-time data insights. The country-wide data will be updated yearly, while RR platform data will be updated frequently.
This dashboard provides country- and feedstock-specific information required to assist in building and scaling strategies, making investment decisions (i.e. new recycling plants) and, importantly, identifying and building stable feedstock supply chains. The post-industrial waste volumes here are considered recycable waste, inclusing RMG and mill waste and not, reusable waste which would be deadstock or overproduction.
